Why is HBO Max changing its name?

While the merger with Discovery Plus might seem reason enough to flip the brand, the reason Warner Bros. Discovery is ditching "HBO," reportedly to appeal to kids (or rather, their parents).

Regarding the rebranding, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery's JB Perrette said:“We all love HBO. And it's a brand built over five decades to be the edgy, pioneer in adult entertainment. But it's not exactly the place where parents would prefer to leave their children."
